Q & A > Question Details
Recently we are observing low lubricity in Ex. Merox treated ATF. The merox unit is UOP. The ATF lubricity Ex. CDU unit is 580 to 600 microns whereas after merox reactor and thereafter it remains 710 to 740 microns.
Can anyone please advice what will be the possible remedy to improve lubricity Ex. Merox unit?

Retain some natural lubricity enhancers already available in the Merox feed to avoid increase in lubricity values of ATF product after Merox reactor i.e. decrease the intensity of Merox sweetening procedure to maintain little higher acidity value which can decrease the value of Lubricity of ATF product to around 580 to 600 microns .
The specifications of Lubricity value of ATF (Jet A-1) as per DEFSTAN issue 7 publication date 18 February 2011 & Aviation Fuel Quality Requirements For Jointly Operated Systems (AFQRJOS) issue 25 –5 th may 2011 , is 850 microns max , which already meets the requirement for Merox treated ATF product.
