Q & A > Question Details
We are frequently observing chocking of crude column overhead boot water pump strainer. There is no sign of of high iron or solid contaminants in boot water and other parameters (like pH, chloride, fe ) are within limit. Please suggest if any one has faced such type of issue.

Best way to figure it out is to get a sample of whatever is plugging the strainer and get it analyzed. One unit I dealt with had some problems with air ingress into the unit. The O2 reacted with some of the H2S so that both H2S and SO2 were present. The result was a claus reaction that generated elemental sulfur which was causing plugging in the water line off of the overhead accumulator boot.
